State Theta Galleries

June 2010

Dear

Welcome to our June newsletter.

A Cause for Celebration

Midsummer this year marks the fifth anniversary of State Theta Galleries. We will celebrate on the 20th June with a special event to which you are all welcome - The Planetary Dance

The Planetary Dance. 2-5.30pm. Sunday 20th June. Cost £5.
Venue: State Theta Galleries

The Planetary Dance, originally developed by Anna Halprin, is an invitation to people all over the world to join in a dance for peace in their own communities and for peace with the Earth. It brings people of all ages and abilities together to dance for a purpose.

The dance is simple and follows a score, or structure, which allows all to participate.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of The Planetary Dance and Anna Halprin's 90th. The dance is being performed around the world at various times throughout the year and midsummer marks a focal point for the dance in many countries. Our intention is to dedicate the funds raised from the day to the Campaign Against Airfield Open Cast (CAAOC)

Projects For Peace

Since the vision behind the Galleries was originally developed it has grown beyond our expectations and recent events have opened up new areas of interest the Galleries wishes to support.

In March of this year I participated in the first 'Planetary Dance Leaders Workshop' with Anna Halprin

Immediately after returning to Scotland I was invited to present the dance at 'Beyond 2012: A New Civilization' an international conference held in Nairn.

To date there are five more events planned this year at which I will facilitate the dance. Dancing for a purpose in community has a powerful unifying force.

'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that has'. - Margaret Mead

Historically, under the auspices of State Theta - Collaborative Arts Performance Company, our work held an ecological, sociological, anthropological and environmentally conscious view. We have now developed links through our website to charities and international projects for peace that reflect a world view of sustainability, ecology and conscious living.

Charities

Alan Ereira, film documentary maker and author of The Heart of The World, has been working for many years to bring to the western world the vision and message of the Kogi people of Columbia through the establishment of the Tairona Heritage Trust. Fundraising, sponsorship and donations are required to create a new documentary about these extraordinary people to show us the hidden powers with which they work in secret. They want us to see, for the first time, how the world really lives and dies and their concerns about the state of the planet.
