Welcome to our September newsletter.

We begin this Autumn with a prayer for peace. Anna Halprin’s Planetary Dance will be offered by Audicia and Derek on September 9th as part of the Knowing Ways Conference in Edinburgh.

At home, in State Theta Galleries, the new Autumn term of classes begins on Monday September 12th. Details of the timetable are on the website and in this newsletter.
We look forward to seeing you back at our term class and there are spaces for new students to join in the activities here.

Since the beginning of 2011 there have been many outreach projects that we have supported. The accelerated creative activity has involved curating, producing and facilitating many events based on the Tamalpa/Halprin Life Art Approach. This exciting development has involved collaboration with both national and international artists which we hope to continue to expand.

In July Audicia spent time in the US working with Anna Halprin and Taira Restar preparing the City Dance Edinburgh project.

After over a year of planning, the City Dance Project saw a very successful debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, to catch up on events you can view our photo gallery and other information on the performance and the project. You may also wish to visit the City Dance Edinburgh facebook page.

State Theta Galleries would like to thank all those who contributed to making this event possible. We have had some wonderful feedback and the reverberation of this complex, creative endeavour continues to unfold.

A special thanks of course to Anna Halprin and Taira Restar for enabling this work to be brought to Scotland.

We were also delighted to have in residency here, for the first time in Scotland, Suprapto Suryodarmo from Indonesia who led a week of in-depth movement research. This was unfortunately his last visit to the UK so we were very happy to host this beautiful artist and share in the experience of his work.

Supratpto continues to develop his research, teaching and performing in Java where he runs international teaching programmes.

Autumn Term

We are running a special Tamalpa Life Art workshop between September and March focusing on The Environmental Body. The new term will offer 12 weeks of classes in Pilates, Yoga and Chi Gung from September 12th to December 14th.

Environmental Body (Based on the Tamalpa Life Art Process)
These workshops will use a multi modal approach of improvised movement, creative writing, drawing/painting, aesthetic dialogue and response. to journey through the body landscapes All hours contribute towards CPD.

If you miss a class, you can make it up by joining any other class or inviting a friend to any other class during the term paid for. Please note that there will be 2 weeks where NO classes will be run. (17th-21st Oct and 14th-18th November)
