Continued Professional Development
The Untouched Self
A continuing Professional Development workshop for Health Professionals or anyone wishing to develop self-awareness through creative mediums.
These workshops are based on the pioneering work of one of America's leading dance elders, Anna Halprin and the Expressive Arts educator, Daria Halprin. It also is indebted to the the research of the teachers and students of the Tamalpa Institute, California.
The intention of this series is to identify personal and professional themes, issues, challenges and growing edges.
Aims:
- To explore creative models and approaches in order to deepen and enhance the self body-wisdom and our innate inner resources.
- To develop a supportive and sustainable community through colleague and peer dialogue, debate and witnessed participation.
This work is informed diagnostically by the study and theory of energy flow in Chinese medicine and the 5 element cycle.
It also draws on the pioneering work of the movement educators and Shiatsu teachers, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and Bill Palmer and their explorations in the developmental movement patterns of early childhood and how these patterns reveal themselves through our own health and dis-ease.
Unexpected Visitors
This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy; a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture.
Still treat each guest honourably,
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
